[ This is Roxas, who doesn't particularly know where he is, just kind of standing on the beach, looking out over it and Bending patterns in the sand. He's not really paying attention to his surroundings; there's no connection to the network or even his comm on which to do it, not hat he's expecting to find that. It's been a long time since he was anywhere... ]

[ That clatter? That is the sound of Gojyo trying to wash the dishes before Hakkai gets home. It's his birthday, and... he wants to actually do something for him. He even got up early to try to clean around the house, which he did a decent job of, but the dishes aren't going as planned. It's not like he never did them before Hakkai showed up, but he never really cared how clean they got. Now he does, though, and in his haste to try to get things done before Hakkai wakes up, he's managed to let one slip and fall to the ground. ]

[ A+, Gojyo. ]

Fuck.

[What a coincidence. Sideswipe doesn't really have a destination in mind. He's just been out driving. Wandering. Getting some space from Mirage and... well. Responsibility. All of that stuff.]

[He's not even particularly paying attention to anything. He does swerve, though, throwing a spray of sand toward the lone figure.]

[And, like clockwork, or like he's been trained, there's the sound of shifting sheets, the quiet creak of floorboards. He's hurrying, from the sound of the footsteps. Because crashing noises never mean anything good.]

[He appears around the corner, before he stops short, looking at the broken pieces at his bare feet.]

Ah--

Is everything all right?

--AH!

[ He hears the motor coming long before he registers that he hears it. That part, of course, comes just as he gets ten pounds of sand thrown at him. His arms go up and he turns, waiting until it's landed to start shouting. ]

Hey, watch it!

[kapparoll]

[ Shit shit shit I'm not done cleaning this mess up yet-- ]

Hey. Uh... Yeah, just a little mishap. Soapy fingers.

[ Gojyo is up at 7:30AM having a soapy fingers mishap, Hakkai. ]

[He stops abruptly. And transforms. All in one motion. He didn't expect -- ]

[He's whirling around, expression stunned.]

[He didn't... think he would ever hear that voice again.]

Are you serious?

So I see.

[And then he just. Smiles. And it's that smile. You are in for it buster.]

One can't help but wonder what sort of mess requires soap enough to drop dishes with.

[aka: What the fuck did you do this time and how many new doors do we need.]

[Nooooo, come on, man, I'm tryin' my best here.]

One can't help but wonder what kinda guy has to go and meddle in another dude's soapy business.

[aka: Nunya go back to bed I was supposed to have another half-hour to do this.]

[ It's when he sees the transformation that Roxas realizes what's going on here... ]

[ When he realizes where he is. ]

[ He spins around a few times, and realizes that yes. Yes, he is home. And then his eyes are lighting up, and he just looks... bewildered. Happy, but bewildered. ]

Sideswipe?

[ hey hey, good lookin' ]

[ what'chu got cookin' ]

Perhaps one who awoke concerned as to the state of his kitchen.

[Now if you excuse him, he's going to kneel to begin picking up the pieces of plate. Pointedly.]

[He's not going back to bed, ever, at this rate.]

Or one who wondered if someone had broken in. Again.

[There's a not-so-subtle emphasis on the last word.]

[There's an excited yelp, which is totally manly, by the way, and not at all embarrassing. He all but springs back across the sand, landing on his hands and knees in front of the kid.]

Are you serious! Are you?

I'm hallucinating. I'm totally hallucinating.

[kapparoll]

[ Nope, he's kneeling down with a dustpan and sweeping Hakkai's fingers away. ]

Nobody broke in. Come on, you don't think I could handle a burglar? Go back to bed.

[ Insistent, isn't he? ]

[ Oh, Roxas is beaming. He reaches out to touch him, like he has to make sure for both of them that he's really here. ]

You're not hallucinating. [ He's almost laughing as he says it. ]

[Luckily for the both of them, Roxas remains one of the few people he still trusts to let near enough to touch. The silver plating doesn't so much as twitch under that hand.]

Are you sure? Your hair doesn't look nearly duck-backside-y enough.

[journeybroken]

[ Fuck yeah I still get shoulder rides. ]

It got a little longer. [ He's grinning. ] ... How long was I gone?

[knowsvinewhip]

Ah...

[He honestly looks stunned to see things swept away from him. He blinks a few times, as if expecting the pieces to reappear if he looks away.]

I was quite expecting you to be out for the morning, as usual... Was it an unprofitable evening for you?

[stabbywheelfeet]

[You're damn right. But not now. Now he's got to prod at Roxas' shoulders to make sure this isn't some kind of crazy storm or something.]

[Yep. The kid is real.]

I... You know, it got so boring, I stopped keeping track. [Hahaha that's a fucking lie.] A while.

[kapparoll]

Didn't stay out late.

[ That's all he says, disposing quietly of the pieces of plate before he goes back to washing dishes. ]

Go back to bed.

[journeybroken]

[ The trust is still there, too; giant robot? Totally allowed to poke and prod at him. ]

It felt like a while. I... got lost. I couldn't find my way back.
